The book Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult is takes place in a high school shooting that only takes the student nineteen minutes to kill all the people he hated. Peter Houghton has endured years of verbal and physical abuse at the hands of classmates. Even those who were not inside the school that morning find their lives in a struggle of the ones that have been killed. Josie who was his best friend had drifted away from him as she hung out with the popular group and got a boyfriend who they all made fun of Peter. Everyone was hurt and had a struggle to get there life back together but not as bad as Josie because she had seen the whole shooting and had to suffer from it. Everyone thought it was Peters fault which it was but they don't realize who had killed Josie's boyfriend and it wasn't Peter. Accidents can happen when you want to save the ones who you really love and Josie gets taught in this novel. Not only does Peter get put in jail but someone who you would never expect is in jail to just for two shots of a gun and killing the love one you sacrifice for.
